The Splendid Hospitality Group wish to bring about necessary change and improvements to the existing Piries Hotel on 2-8 Coates Gardens, in the West End of Edinburgh.
The Piries Hotel is situated within the New Town Conservation Area, in a B-listed mid terrace, built in 1845. The Hotel benefits from a main front door entrance off Coates Gardens and disabled access (No's. 6-8). Immediately adjacent to this address SHG owns No's. 2-4 Coates Gardens, with the exception of a single attic flat which remains in private ownership.
Preservation of the character, setting and quality of the Piries Hotel as a Category B Listed Building is of paramount importance with retention, enhancement and restoration of the features of the building required.
One option we have developed is the relocation of the reception and creating a larger bar / breakfast area. This option also provides the opportunity to create outdoor seating areas that can be easily accessed through the breakfast area.
Design work is ongoing as we work towards submitting the planning application and we are enjoying testing out different ideas and developing these with the client.
